Payments To Producers And Processors For Research

DOGE’d!

The following program was terminated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in March 2025. The organizers have restructured the project for proposal submission under alternative funding. If opportunities emerge from a funded proposal, we will inform you.

The following program provides payments to producers and processors for participating in research activities.

Growing GRASS is a USDA-funded program aiming to get farmers, ranchers, and herders of regeneratively raised beef and bison a higher value and more use out of their livestock, and in particular, to grow markets for regeneratively-produced hides and other meat byproducts.

* For PRODUCERS: The program is providing direct payments to producers interested in using regenerative grazing practices in exchange for survey participation, and may also provide funding support for certification and audit cost shares. * For PROCESSORS: The program is looking to support new processing and aggregator partners in collecting and selling regenerative hides and other byproducts and potentially developing new collection methodologies. * For BRANDS/MARKET PARTNERS: The program is working to grow partnerships with partners interested in using regenerative products in their leather, ingredients, and pet food/treats, and also seeks partner input on desired data/verification programs to support regenerative claims
